Another reason: Everything the human mind has ever comprehended is available on the internet. Maybe the school sees your time better spent learning something of value.

It comes down to protecting you, and protecting the computer. Public and Private schools have that duty...the computer is NOT the student's property, so I will never be able to comprehend why any student thinks they should be able to do whatever they want with it.

If I came to your house and started visiting crack sites and infecting your computer with garbage and looking at porn all day, you'd probably take issue with it.

Schools are just looking out for you, and the property.
