ok im 13 years old and im not allowed to have myspace or go on it but some kids at school have a myspace so why do there parents let them. Do they not care? No rude or mean answers.

Some parents are more leanient. and they let them do things that you cant. they might be the parents that will let their kids drink and date earlier too. trust me i have been where you are and i am 23 now, i have come to realize that what parents do might not always be right when they dont let you do something. but its what they feel is right for you and the time..they are just trying to protect you, be thankful that you have parents that love you soooo much.

I don't see what's so bad about it. I mean, I wouldn't use it myself because I prefer more customizability, but I certainly don't see the point of not allowing other people to use it. I think any parents who disallow their kid from using it must have somehow decided that the horror stories we hear every once in a while happen on there routinely, and that there is no possible way for their kid to prevent it (both of which are about as false as it's possible to get).

Most people in the world have MySpace. It's one of the most popular sites on the internet. Some kids don't care what their parents say. They will just rebell against them and go onto MySpace and set up an account. Maybe parents know that, and they don't try to stop them.

MySpace is not a dangerous site. The kids who are stupid enough to put their phone numbers and addresses on a public page are what makes Myspace dangerous. I never understood why parents thought MySpace was so dangerous. I, myself, have a myspace, but then again, I'm twenty. There are ways that you can be safe on there. You can private your profile, and only add people you know. I don't really see anything wrong with MySpace, because welcome to the internet. Predators are everywhere on here. It would be okay for a child your age to have a myspace, as long as parents make their children aware of that, and make sure they know how to stay safe on the internet. And there are ways to be safe on MySpace.

Those parents don't really pay attention to what their kids are doing, so yes, in a sense maybe they don't care. Myspace isn't that bad, but they should deffinatly monitor who their children are communicating with. 13 may sound young, but I remember when I was 13, my parents tried to keep tabs on me and couldn't, I was sneaky and a little too adult. Myspace should be the least of parents concerns really.

ok in my opinion,I'm in high school, I would personally love to have a myspace... however, my parents, like yours, will not allow me to have a myspace. Parents think that kids have a poor sense of judgement when it comes to protecting yourself online. The internet is a very big web of information ranging from search engines to inappropriate stuff. Myspaces, Xangas, face journals are visible from all over the world and anyone can read it(whether it is protected or not) if they try hard enough. If this still doesn't help, think of some 45 year old man, looking at your profile, finding out where you live, what school you go to etc. and then coming and kidnapping you. Unlikly right? But it could happen and I'm sure it has, so just be careful if you convince your parents to let you have a myspace. My friends have one and they say that as long as you are 15 and under your "space" is private.

You have asked a great question that I can only guess at the answer. I think that they are gullible to the extent that they want to believe everything their child tells them. They don't monitor the site to see what their child is up to.

I went on my space 4 months ago to check on my nephew. My neighbor has a 14 year old daughter and I checked to see if she had a my-space page too. Well she did and was contacting 19 and 20 year old men. She had set herself up as being 18. I signed in as my brother who is 32 and I contacted her. She contacted me and wanted to go out with me even though I told her I was 32. I showed her mother that she not only had asked a 32 year man out but had sent me almost nude photos of herself and pictures of herself with other females and drinking. Well she told her mom it was all a joke. Mom believed her and will not speak to me anymore. The 14 year old curses me out and flips me off every time I drive by her house or she sees me outside with the grandchildren. So in that case it was just laziness. She didn't want to punish the child so she chose to believe her.

you have to understand, its not that they dont care its that they dont know, back when the parents of today where kids you didnt have the internet, you didnt have myspace this is something new that the parents dont know about. if the parents of today knew, i reckon half of the myspace accounts would be deleted over night!

the parents of torrmorrrow will be more aware having grown up with the net and they wont allow their kids to make the same mistake or do the samethings, but by then some new way of kids communicateing will be around and they will be in the dark! and so on and so on.

i am well aware of myspace, i dont realy allow my kids on the net accept for homework etc, thats it, if they want to speak to their friends they go outside which is far more healthly for them, only one of my children who has a problem with this is my 13 year old son.

MySpace is not a bad thing as long as you use it with caution. I have a MySpace, BUT I have my profile on the PRIVATE setting which means only your friends, the people you accept as your friends can see your page. The only people on my page are my actual friends that I know. Also, go in there and put you are from a different town than you really are and don't put a real pic as your default pic and you will be very protected because no one will be able to see any of your info except yoru friends.

If MySpace is used this way it is a very cool site. You can watch music videos and stuff on there and talk to people you rarely get to see. However, I do understand that some parents don't want their kids to have one because they will not be responsible with it and that is a good thing.

Marwa, I am a parent that does not allow My Space. My reasons are, the potential danger that is possible. Sexual predators, seeking for unsuspecting individuals. (mostly children) I have a 15 yr. old and he is going through adolescents. He says I am to strict, no I am being a parent. That takes guide lines of what can be done, and what is not allowed. I know this world is a real deceptive place, so I tell him the truth in regards to life. Your parents obviously care and Love you sincerely. In regards to the parents that allow their children on My Space. I think it's not easy being a good parent, so they try to be friends with their child. That is not, the way to protect our children. Its not that I don't think they care, its that they probably have trust in their children not to be stupid. Myspace is not a bad thing as long as the person using it is smart enough not to just meet strangers off of it. All you hear on the news is "Oh my god, my child got raped by this person they met on myspace, that site should be shut down!" NO! What those parents should be doing is lecturing their child about what they did wrong. If all these kids were actually stupid enough to talk to random people and meet them that is their own fault not the website. What parents need to do is lecture their children about people on the internet, everyone should know not to give away their info no matter how old they are. Not to mention, on myspace they have strict rules for anyone 16 and under. Noone may view their profiles unless the said child invites them or if that person already knows them and can give proof that they do. If the child is dumb enough to just let everyone they don't know become their friend then that is their problem and their parents should not blame a website for it. I have a myspace and when someone I don't know trys to contact me, I'm smart enough to click the little link that say DENY, its as simple as that.
