My ten year will be in 2010, and I have no intention of going. I am still friends with all of the people I liked in high school, and because of Myspace, have been in contact with those I knew and lost touch with. And I am not someone who would go to showoff about my life.

I also have both, started out with myspace then got a facebook at the urging of a friend...I never use myspace, I use facebook daily though. I find it more adult, easier to locate old friends, school buddies, relatives...the applications you can add really cover a large variety of games and fun stuff to send to your friends...I found myspace was hard to find a old friend, there were not many cool add ons and generally I lost interest in it very fast...I have now gotten my husband hooked on facebook too after he said it sucked, he tried it and is hooked.

I have this friend from school that I requested on myspace. For some reason his profile is set to private. He hasnt added me and when I ask he says to wait till he updates. I think he likes me and he is gayy. I think he has pics of me and him together or something on his page that he doesnt want me to see. If he likes you, i think he would be more than eager to add you. No one here will teach you how to hack into it, but why don't you just ask one of your friends who has a myspace account that is friends with him to show you his page. Since it's private and only friends can view it.
You can't "hack" a MySpace.
When people say things like "Oh no! I've been hacked!" they were really just phished. Password phishing isn't that complicated at all. All the phisher has to do is:
1. Make a fake MySpace Login page, except instead of logging the person in, it sends their password to a txt document.
2. Upload the web page they created
3. Send the person the link to your webpage and hope they fall for it.

There is this person that goes to our school who made a myspace account where they post bad things about people who go to our school. They are suppose to snitch on them for anything that they do, or just make up rumors like,''So and so is a h.o.e." ect.

And as for MYSPACE, schools have started monitoring them and using what they find there for dismissal and other actions against the student. Some students are also snitching to their parents about certain things going on.
So, put your profile on Private, invite only WHO YOU KNOW and that's it.
At least they will think twice before doing something that might end up on that myspace account. This could be a good thing.

Go to the FAQ. and see if you can report the page to MYSPACE as some sort of abuse. Also do you know any lawyers? If you are personally damaged by untruths you may have recourse to a defamation suit. If teachers are involved get in touch with the ACLU, they love screwing schools. Be careful and do not show your hand too early.
Added later: Let me get this straight, you were a little unclear. Somebody started a myspace account, with possible involvement of the teachers, and they are spreading lies and rumors about students at this school.

You need to concentrate on school work when you are at school and play time afterwards. The system administrator has the computer sites locked out for a reason plus they can tell which sites you go to.

Good luck man, most schools have top of the line security systems so most proxy sites (sites that allow you to bypass most filters and hides your ip address) will be blocked. I recommend that you don't even try since you can get in trouble.

well i find it annoying myself, that myspace is blocked at schools. but i think they are going to far with the whole blocking. and i find it even more annoying and stupid that some schools [private only as far as i have heard] have been making students delete whatever blog they are using [myspace, xanga, livejournal, etc.] or they will get in major trouble with the school. myspace to me should be "legal" in schools. students are not always able to access a computer at home, and would use school for internet use, but they can't fully take advantage of that luxury because the school's don't allow it. they do tho allow hi5 at my school. so there are always alternatives. you could talk about alternative sites that you can go to on your school's computers.

I'm not a huge fan of the "Oh noes there are peadophiles on the Internets and they're going to get my kids!" argument against Myspace, but I don't have a problem with it being blocked in school.
Fact: although there have been some well-publicised cases of stalking and drug dealing on Myspace, the same can be said for the telephone, email, pagers, text messaging, and any other method where two people communicate with each other.
Fact: despite all its benefits, Myspace doesn't really offer anything educational (at least, not the type of educational they want you to learn in school).
Fact: school computers are paid for by tax dollars that are earmarked for education. Makes sense that you should be encouraged to use them for educational purposes, right?
Fact: cell phones, another communication tool, are banned from many (most?) schools because they are a disruption to learning. If cell phones - which aren't owned by the school - can be regulated, then doesn't it make sense the school should be able to regulate the content available on their own computers as well?
Those would be points I would bring up, if it were my paper.
This way, kids can't get around it. Not even with proxies. Thank godness, this generation is filled with lazy kids anyway. That's why America's kids are obese. It was totally different when I was a kid. Any thoughts?
i graduated in 2001, we didnt have nearly any of this stuff, including just basic internet access.

I am not sure that is has anything to do with obesity, but I can't imagine that is positively contributes to test scores, which nationwide are atrocious (nor am I naive enough to think it is the sole factor). So, yes, kudos to schools for this policy change. Hopefully, similar education positive policy changes will be in the future.
am a college student and i love facebook and myspace. kids shouldn't be using them in school. when i was in high school, the web was monitored. and those sites weren't either around or as popular as they are now.
At my school, kids have to sign a technology agreement at the very beginning of the year. It clearly states that if a student is caught on an adult site, he will not be able to use any computer for the rest of the school year. That's serious because all kids have computer lab and computer projects for grades. And yes... myspace is blocked along with facebook and several others. At home, computers should be in the family room.

There really is no way around this since they blocked it. It is there property and internet so you have no choice. The only way to get it would be to get on at your home.
Your best bet is to go home to get on MySpace. Obviously the computer people at your school are keeping an eye on proxy sites being used on their system, since vtunnel used to work but doesn't anymore. So even if you get another proxy from an answer and it works, it probably won't work for long.
Going home means you have a better chance of getting onto MySpace AND you won't get into trouble with the school for visiting sites that are against the computer rules. If your work is all done and you have time to kill on the computers at school, quit trying to sneak around the rules and stick to sites that they haven't blocked.
You can't and you shouldn't even try because that is against the acceptable use policy at your school. They have sites blocked for a reason and trying to bypass their security will get you banned from using any of their their computers and probably even suspended or expelled. They track everything you do and you will get caught.

Unless you crack/hack into the Sonicwall firewall appliance, which is located in the server room of your IT department, you have absolutely ZERO chance to go beyond what the IT department allows as traffic inbound and outbound.
You can use proxys, and it's fine you will get to the front page of myspace, minus some graphics and the whole natural look of the webpage, but as soon as you click on login, you will get a Screen telling you you are not authorized to access this page. Your attempts has been logged by the IT dpt.
I would advise you to just focus on studying or anything else but trying to go past your IT dpt. Their job is to stay one or 2 steps ahead of hackers from all around the world, so believe me they are way ahead of their own users, aka students.
Keep at it and worry about your social life more than schoolwork. While you are at it text in school and when you get home do your homework really fast and get back to your social life.
Then when or if you get to college (where the real fun begins) and wonder why other people get the material easier and have more time for fun than studying. My ex-boyfriend from High School contacted me on MySpace. He called me on my cell phone two weeks later. It brought back old memories. I even found an old Valentine's Day card he gave me. The card talked about how much he cherished our relationship and how he never wanted to lose contact with each other. Over the years he has become successful with no extra baggage. He lives 5 hours away from me and he is coming into town in 2 weeks. We had a great relationship in high school 10 years ago. Could this be a continuation?

I think it gives you time to takl with your friends when you cant use the phone and you can meet new people. It is safe when used the right way. You can listen to music for free get some good jokes and catch up with people that you knew before.

It's a website, how can it be "good" or "bad"? Think of it as an alternative to Television. It's MUCH better in that case. At least there are real humans on the other end.
I like myspace. its good if you dont abuse it and add random people that you dont know. I have moved so many times and I have friends all over the country, it is a way to keep in touch with everyone that you dont get to see very often. But its bad for stupid kids that add people that they have never even met before, because it could be some creep. I liked myspace when you had to be 16 to join. now theres little 13 year olds dressing like sluts, taking pictures of themselves and posting them on the internet for everyone to see. so there is a good and a bad side.

I like myspace because of all the cool layouts you can put on there and the music and the falling objects, well I mean I like "pimping" my myspace and I also like getting all these friends who are pretending to be fictional characters cause I think it's funny. I have Worf, George Lucas, Cpt. Janeway, Spock, Spot(Data's Cat), Obi Wan kenobi, and the Reno 911 crew on there too as well as a ton of people which I find amusing. Along with my fake friends and totally pimped out myspace page, I can keep in contact with friends I wouldn't otherwise be able to keep in contact with, like friends from High School. It's also a great way to stay informed. I'm in this group that usually meets every week and if somethings changed they usually leave a bulletin or something reminding me about the change or the meeting or whatever.

Circumventing Internet access control systems with web proxies to access unauthorized web sites is a violation of school computer usage policy. You will get suspended and/or banned from using school computers when you get caught. Use school computers for school work, and myspace can wait until you get home. Do you really want your teachers and school administrators knowing what you are posting on myspace anyways?

I find the myspace issue of the school punishing not only the poster who threatened a girl but also those who visited the site very disturbing. Shouldn't the law deal with the issue of a threat of phsical violance against the girl? and the school focus on education? Also how can you jusify punishment for just viewing the site. If its on school grounds its the persons flat and should get in trouble and its part of the parents flat for not teaching the kid/s the differance of how to get out of the problem.and the parent should get into trouble also. Thats what the schools did when I was in school. times has changed but the schools and kids havent changes, and I'm 45 yrs. old.
A girl I went to high school with found me on myspace (my page was promoting my photography). I am just now starting a business. She is recording an album and needed some photos for the insert. We never set anything in stone I just told her I wouldn't charge her for "taking" the photos. Now she wants to know how much to let her use them on the web (with my name at the bottom of them).
Call other photography studios in the area and ask them what they charge for various types of photos. If you have background scenery, umbrellas, other lighting and fast lenses, you have more invested and can create a better picture. Therefore, I think you could charge more.
But if you're just starting out and have the basics, I'd say less.
When I say a fast lens, a 1.2f or maybe 1.4f in 35mm. I only mention that because you can open it up all the way, focus on the subject and through the background out of focus.
I want to view xanga.com and/or myspace.com from a school computer, but most proxy sites are blocked. I can't figure out a site that isnt blocked that I can use to get to xanga or myspace. Could someone help me get to these websites?

You really should be paying attention in school instead of trying to bypass the filter. Obviously you have no computer skills as this question has been asked to death and all you have to do is search for it.

BTW: Admin know what your doing and even if you get through today the will have it blocked within 24-48hrs.
A school system will possible have a strong way of content filtering. So there are less or no chances that you can override them.
Just ask permission from the required party to use the sites for a small session. Who knows they might sometimes let you.
